After you contact us by phone or email, we conduct an in-home design consultation. We then use our design software to visualize your patio. Afterward, we meet with you to discuss our proposal, and once everyone agrees, we handle city permits or HOA approval forms. Once approved, we can begin construction and keep you informed throughout the process until project completion.

In general, how long does this process take?

It can take six to eight weeks after the design has been confirmed.

What are the best patio cover materials used today?

Structural integrity, durability, and longevity drive our material selection. As manufacturers  are constantly innovating the materials they offer, Tradition Outdoor Living is constantly adapting to new materials and processes. Tradition Outdoor Living typically uses materials that match your home while budget builders often push vinyl, aluminum, and alumawood patio covers that are less attractive and lower quality.

Will my patio cover require maintenance?

Your new structure will require less maintenance than the rest of your home. However, special request materials may require additional maintainence. 

What should I consider when choosing a backyard builder?

Finding a trustworthy and local company requires checking out reviews, exploring past projects, and confirming that your builder is insured and meets state license requirements.

Outdoor Kitchen FAQ

Which features should I include in my outdoor kitchen?

We advise installing a grill with a direct gas line for grilling, a refrigerator, and a water supply. Additional features increase the luxurious feel of your space.

Do outdoor kitchens require a lot of maintenance?

Other than keeping the area clean, it will not need substantial maintainence.

How long will it take to build my outdoor kitchen?

Though highly dependent upon design and materials chosen, building an outdoor kitchen usually takes 3 to 4 weeks to build.

Does the Houston climate impact my outdoor kitchen?

Do custom pools require a lot of maintenance?

Each custom pool has a unique construction process that requires different amounts of time based on the design. After pool construction has begun, it usually takes a minimum of 8 weeks.

We have the most current technology available. If you desire, we can connect your smartphone to automate lighting, filters, water features, heating, cleaning systems, and more.

Do I need a permit for an outdoor fireplace or fire pit?

While permits aren’t typically needed, it’s a good idea to check local ordinances and codes.

What factors should I keep in mind before installing an outdoor fireplace?

You should consider overhead clearance, underground utilities, level, drainage, and wind direction.

Is there significant maintenance needed for a fire pit?

A gas fire pit requires very little maintenance. If you are utilizing fire glass, you can use water and soap to take care of soot.

Is there significant maintenance needed for an outdoor fireplace?

Fireplaces and gas logs require minimal maintenance, and wood-burning fireplaces involve the most upkeep.

Yes, in most cases, we can match the material and textures to create a room addition that looks natural.

Building an addition is like building a small house and requires everything from foundation to utilites to painting. 

How long is the process?

Depending on the extent of the room addition, the process will take 6-8 weeks at minimum.

Pergola FAQ

How long will it take to install my new pergola?

Pergola installation typically takes about 1 to 3 days once building begins.

During installation, do I need to be present?

It is important that you are available at the project’s start and completion, for review, and to receive maintenance instructions. Your project developer advise you if additional time is needed.

What is the best location for a pergola?

While a pergola can be installed anywhere, common areas include: over a pathway or outdoor dining area, poolside, or beside an outdoor fireplace.

What materials do you use, and how does that affect maintenance?

What width should my carport be for two cars?

Our clients typically prefer their carport width to be at least 20 feet wide.

Do I need to obtain a building permit for my carport?

This depends on local zoning rules. If it is necessary, we will compile information and file the forms, so you don’t have to worry about applying. 

My ground isn’t level. Is that going to be an issue?

Typical installations allows for slight variations in the site grading. 

Can I have my new carport installed on a wood deck?

No. Wood is not strong enough to constantly bear the weight of vehicles and remain in good shape. The best option for the flooring of a carport is concrete.
