Custom Pergola in Katy, Texas Creates a Comfortable Outdoor Living Retreat

Homeowners in Katy, Texas, are increasingly looking for ways to make better use of their outdoor spaces. Instead of having a backyard that sits unused for much of the year, a thoughtfully designed pergola can create a comfortable area for relaxing, entertaining, and enjoying time with family.

For this Katy, Texas outdoor living project, Tradition Outdoor Living built a custom pergola that extends the home's existing patio area and creates a dedicated outdoor living room. With stone accents, a built-in fireplace insert, recessed lighting, and a ceiling fan, this space is designed for both daytime and nighttime enjoyment.

Tradition Outdoor Living recently completed a custom pergola and expansive outdoor kitchen project in Frisco, Texas.

Pergola

This pergola was designed as an extension of the home's existing patio cover. Rather than creating a completely separate structure, the new pergola connects to the covered patio on the left side of the home.

This creates a natural transition between the indoor and outdoor living spaces while significantly expanding the usable backyard area.

The kitchen features a stone veneer finish and a durable stamped concrete floor that ties the entire design together.

Fireplace

At the center of the backyard seating area is a custom fireplace insert surrounded by the same stone used on the pergola's post bases.

The fireplace serves several purposes within the space. In addition to creating a focal point and providing warmth, the structure also works as a privacy wall, mantel, and TV mount.

To finish off the design, the kitchen countertops were built with Nilo River granite, offering both beauty and durability.

The flooring throughout the outdoor living area features a concrete overlay, providing a clean and durable surface underneath the pergola.

Concrete is a practical choice for an outdoor living space because it can provide a consistent surface for furniture while complementing the wood and stone materials used throughout the structure.
